Westfield Avenue, Gorgie, Edinburgh

The Westfield proposal aims to provide up to 200 mixed tenure homes at affordable prices on a derelict former bus depot site in central Edinburgh.

The development has a mix of shared equity and rented units along with flats for sale at affordable prices. Up to 18 workshop/studio units to suit start-up businesses have been incorporated into the development which could create a sustainable mixed use community adjacent to the Water of Leith.

The development forms an open network of buildings and spaces which fan out towards the river with a new bridge link bringing the Water of Leith valley into a part of the city. The design follows the principles developed in a master plan which was given planning consent last year. The plans were designed to meet Edinburgh’s sustainable design guide incorporating renewable energy systems and the latest ‘green technology’

BRS provided energy performance certificates providing validation for the adoption of the many green technologies adopted in the development.
